In February 2002, Todd South (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Lenny Supera (electric lead guitar, vocals) and Jim “Cap” Stapp (drums, percussion, vocals) met via the Internet, exchanged original MP3’s, and eventually got together for an informal jam session. In less than two weeks, the energy and creative vibe from that first meeting led to the formation of Burning Peace and the beginning of an amazing journey. Before a month had passed, Burning Peace began performing on various local stages, experimenting with arrangements during live shows and working hard to add something new & exciting to the growing indie music scene. By October 2002, their all-original material and energetic live show began to draw the attention of music fans and the independent press. Although the majority of Burning Peace songs begin with veteran composer Todd South, the varied songwriting, recording, and live performance experiences of each band member combine to form a unique and cohesive whole. As South notes, “I’ve performed some of these songs as a solo artist, but it’s clear that none are really finished until the rest of the band add their unique talents & insight. I never dreamed I’d be part of a band this good! The fact that both Lenny and Cap are longtime songwriters is the real secret to the Burning Peace sound.” Burning Peace released their first studio album (Over The Water) in 2003, and the first of a 2-disc live recording project (Live! - Volume 1) in 2004. Tracks from both albums have received local airplay as well as international exposure on Internet radio. Work began on new studio and live CD's in January 2007, with a release date ... yet to be determined. As Cap says, "It'll be done when it's done!" Based in Reno, Nevada, Todd South & Burning Peace hosted the extremely popular open mic night at Walden’s Coffeehouse from June 2002 to July 2007 (earning the Reno News & Review Reader’s Choice award for “Best Open Mic” in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007). In August 2007, Todd South created the "Reno Music Project" as a volunteer-run organization for hosting the showcases & open mic nights, as well as providing affordable recording services to the Reno music community.
